Dr. James McCauleys words this morning. Listened to a really good speech by President Obama last night thanking the health care workers who have served the country by helping contain the epidemic in West Africa. One of our own who I had said goodbye to only a few hours earlier was mentioned by name - Katie Curran, Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer! The president made the important point that we will likely see an occasional case in the US, especially if we continue to have health workers respond to the call to serve (still desperately needed!). But he also made three important points - all of those who contracted Ebola in the US have survived, there have been no new cases in two weeks, and there has yet to be a single case of community transmission - despite hundreds exposed. The US can handle an occasional case. huffingtonpost/2014/10/29/obama-ebola_n_6068642.html
