Drafted a letter for the NT News - would appreciate any comments before I send it. Water, potable water, that is, our most precious resource, simply because all living plants and animals need water to survive. We all know that we need water to survive, be it for drinking or for plants to grow; yet our elected members of Parliament do not seem to comprehend the significance of this fact. Reports from around the world indicate that there are absolutely no guarantees that all safeguard systems can prevent a disaster from happening and aquifers becoming polluted making the water undrinkable. I am only looking at the frail human side of this equation; let’s bring in nature or the Mother Earth side of it. If SHE decides to shake up the earth just a little bit nothing devised by a mere mortal will stand a chance to survive. I am appealing to all citizens of the Northern Territories to contact their elected member and strongly insist that a moratorium be placed on any further granting of a licence to an oil company for Shale gas exploration.
