Dreams Don’t Work Unless You Do… Welcome to our Athlete of The Week segment. With us today is Elda, an Italian lady living in Norway. By profession she is an Art Historian who works in the management of contemporary art exhibitions. She has owned her own contemporary art gallery and has also published her own novel. Within her is a creativity that she strives to improve and work on in all aspects, fitness included. Let’s hear from Elda – Tell us, what is Fitness to you? ----- I have always been a sportswoman. Since I was little my parents made me train: swim, horsemanship, basketball etc. But I really get into Contemporary Dance when I was about 8 years old and I trained hard until I was 18. Then I stopped because of my studies and started to go to Fitness center. Later on I stopped training and did some Yoga and Taekwondo. Since I am here in Norway I started to train again in Strength training and Power Lifting. Strength Training: I started this new routine the 16th of November 2014. So its almost two months now that I have trained with this routine. I have always been suspicious about Strength training and Power lift for women because I thought that, like Body-building, it pumps up the body as a balloon. Of course, I was wrong. In the beginning of November 2014 I have met some other women athletes who practice this training and they definitely look good. I knew I wanted to look like them. So I started my routine which changed my life style completely. First, I had to change my food habits: I started to eat more proteins and to eat more often during the day. In the beginning I was scared that I would have gained kilos instead of loosing it. Then, I started to train together with a friend Silje (remkesnorge on Instagram). She helped me to build my routine a lot. We train 5 days in a week and have two days off. The training lasts for one and a half or two hours and it is mostly total body training. It starts with a series of warm upexercises: plank, hip trusts, goblet squat, squat standing etc. Then, after 15/20 minutes of warmup we start the training with an alternated program that focuses on the large muscle groups. Basically, one day it is Squats and shoulders and back and legs; the second day is bench press, deadlifts and triceps. Normally, each training program consists of 8 to 12 exercises. I also started an instagram account: burstfitness just as a motivation for myself and inspiration for others. I found it very helpful. I think that Exceed Evolution is very helpful for people like me that have just started to lift weight because with its tips its a great inspiration and support! ----- Amazing work, Elda. We are honored to be featuring you and your creative talent. Keep working on your dreams and each day you will become a little closer than the last. - The Exceed Evolution Team
