Dreams are sweet until they’re not Men are kind until they aren’t Flowers bloom until they rot and fall apart Is anybody listening? I open my mouth and nothing comes out Nothing Nothing gonna wake me now Flowers, I remember fields Of flowers, soft beneath my heels... (Anais Mitchell - Eurydices song) Flowers for Eurydice - by Daniel Belardinelli 48in x 50in. Mixed Media on Canvas This is a painting that I made which was inspired by one of my favorite films: Orfeu Negro or Black Orpheus. Eurydice is one of the central figures in the film. The film is s French/Brazilian film which was made in 1959. It was written by Vinicius de Moraes & directed by Marcel Camus. The film is a modern day adaptation of the Greek legend of Orphus & Eurydice. I am very interested in all forms of mythology, particularly Roman & Greek. There is a lot mythological symbolism & reference in my work. I also lived in Rio de Janerio in the early 80s & am intrigued w/ Brazilian culture (and other cultures).
