Driving in to my hometown today, after largely having been away for 25 years, was a surreal experience. At first I only recognized some place-names: Hillside; Westchester; Brezina Woods. But the buildings, the streets, the very terrain itself was foreign. Then we crossed 31st Street and everything clicked into place. Theres Derek Shoubas house! That was Newell Washburns street! Down there was where Lisa Rabaza grew up! Now for a rest at my brothers place and some take-out from Barrones. Tomorrow well stop by the house on Catherine and my old neighborhood en route to the Graue Mill and the Little Red Schoolhouse.
