Due to a high number of requests I am posting this recipe for laundry soap. GRANNY’S LIQUID LAUNDRY SOAP 1 – FELS NAPTHA LAUNDRY SOAP BAR 5 - CUPS - HOT TAP WATER ¾ - CUP 20 MULE TEAM BORAX 1 ½ - CUPS ARM & HAMMER SUPER WASHING SODA (Not Baking Soda or Arm & Hammer Detergent) 1. Grate soap bar and add to the 5 cups of hot tap water in a 2 quart pot. 2. Heat over stove top medium heat and stir until soap is completely melted in the water. 3. Fill a 5 gallon bucket ½ full with hot water and add the washing soda and borax stirring until dissolved. 4. Add melted soap mixture and stir thoroughly. 5. Add more hot water to the 5 gallon bucket mixture until 3 inches from the top. 6. Stir and cover until cooled over night or at least 12 hours so mixture turns to a thick gel. Add scented oil only if desired. (Approx. 25 drops per 5 gallons) 7. Once mixture has set over night uncover and stir with a long paint stick or 5 gallon paint blending attachment on a battery drill until smooth liquid. This batch will yield 10 gallons of laundry soap. To wash clothes: Use ½ mixture to ½ water in a 1 gallon jug or used laundry soap bottle. Shake and mix well before each use. Top Load Washer – 3/4 Cup per load. (Approx. 210 uses) Front Load Washer – 1/3 Cup per load. (Approx 480 uses)
