Dunfanaghy Golf Club Notes: There were windy conditions on the course over the weekend, but it did not stop the men and ladies taking part in the end of year competitions. Well done to Mary Lafferty who won the Ladies Hamper on Saturday. Willie Wilkin loves the Top Twenty Final competition and he won it for a second time on Sunday. They was a good turn for the presentations on Sunday Evening. Congratulations to Paul mc Ginley on being selected BBC Personality of the Year 9Coach0 2014. He fully deserves the honour. We are all very proud of his achievements. We also wish him well in his role as manager of the Olympics Golf team which was also announced during the week. We hope to see Paul on the course over the Christmas break. The was a good turnout for the AGM on Friday night. Well done to Eugene Magee who will be the Captain at the club in 2015 and to James Sweeney who will be the incoming President. The two Captains and their committees would like to wish everyone in the club and their families the best wishes for the Christmas period and hope that everyone has a peaceful Christmas. So far, the feedback that we have been getting is that the golf club is the ideal venue for parties of up to one hundred people. Please make contact with Sarah if you are interested in holding a function at the clubhouse (074 91 36335) New Members alert!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If anyone interested in joining the golf club, we have special offers in place at the moment. All details can be viewed on our website or contacting the clubhouse and speaking to Mary or Ruth. Anyone joining now will get the rest of 2014 free of charge. The Winter Open 4BBB competitionis into a new month - December. This competition is great because you can play any day of the week, with whoever you want and as many times as you want until you qualify. There are four monthly winners each month who go forward to the Grand Final on the 21st of June 2014. The first three pairs qualify automatically and then the fourth pair will be the best recorded score by a 4BBB made up of club members each month. The 4BBB can be any combination and it would be great to see mixed pairs taking part as a follow on from the great competition ran by John and Cheryl Chambers this summer. All details of the competition can be seen on posters displayed in the clubhouse. Juvenile notes; Ben King and James Sweeney led the way in the Xmas hampers kindly sponsored by Brian Gilfedder. Ben King led from start to finish to claim the Cadet prize. It was a much closer affair in the main section with both James Sweeney and Edward O Reilly going toe to toe all the way with both missing short putts on the last that would have secured the win. In the playoff James holed a great putt to secure victory. Presentation of prizes will take place this Saturday morning.
