During a 1+ hour interview, Nas speaks about Winehouse for about 3 minutes. He tells the audience that they both shared a birthday, and they only got to hang out one weekend before she passed. Her producer Salaam Remi had recorded her singing a song which, at the time, was pretty much just the chorus. They approached her family after she passed and asked if they could have it; the family said “Yes”. After Nas recorded the rest of the track, and the song was released, he bumped into Amy’s manager at some restaurant. The manager ( as Nas recollects ) burst into tears when he saw him, pulled him outside, and said “Did you know she wrote that chorus about you?” Peace
