During the sermon today I was drawing over, and refining a loose abstract painting I had previously done a few days earlier. As I looked at the image, I was prompted to put water coming from the sky, and as I did that I also brought the water down into the landscape, coloring in rivulets that ran down through all the layers of the earth, all the way down to its core. Then I started to make notes as I listened to the sermon, on the adjoining page. John 14:16 And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate, (or Comforter or Encourager or Counselor) who will never leave you.. 17 He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive Him, because it isnt looking for Him and doesnt recognize Him. (And I love this part) But you know Him, because He lives with you now and later will be in you. ..... I ask the questions of the Holy Spirit, to direct me in my life, to open my eyes and ears to His heart, His Love, and His presence here, His presence that lives in me now. I look as I pray, to the painting I just finished and I see it. It makes sense to me all at once, this abstract painting I have done. His rivers of living water flow over this entire earth, pointing to His beauty in every living thing and circumstance. There is beauty too, even in the hardships and disappointments. His beauty is never ending, ever present, and encompasses all. We just have to slow down to see it. Why does God speak in a whisper? Because we cant hear a whisper on the run. We have to slow down, make space and time for Him so we can hear Him. Slow down to see the beauty that is ever present in everything around us. His presence flows over every crevice of this earth. It is a gift for you.
