Dylan went to school for the whole day today. He had a great time! He was a little nervous when we first got there. I think he was afraid that hed be the center of attention. So we waited a little till most kids were in class and I wheeled him into first period and told him he was on his own. He said he had lots of help and really didnt have to wheel himself around much at all. I think it was fun for everyone. :) (And he didnt get hurt with any wild and crazy wheelies!) Tomorrow he is going in again for the whole day. His feet are still swollen and painful. They are feeling a little better but he still cant really walk on them for more than a few steps. The pain is mostly on the pads of his feet- pretty much what you walk on so he does this duck walk thing to try and put more pressure on the inside of his foot to minimalize the pain. Hes been soaking them in cool water to make them feel better and staying off then as much as possible. We dont want to mess with them too much. Heat and friction make it worse so massage is out of the question. Monday is his next appointment. He will be in for 4-5 days for the high dose methotrexate. We are hoping that he can get out early Thursday and make it to school for the last half of that day and the last day of school on Friday. We have some tricks we are going to try to get his levels in check before we get to the clinic on Monday morning so they can get the 24 hour drip started ASAP. It usually takes all day to get him fully hydrated and get the acid levels in his urine low enough to start. He usually has to have lots of fluids and a couple of sodium bi carb boluses before hes ready. So we are going to make it a point to get him drinking extra all weekend and eating lots of stuff with baking soda. (sodium bi carb) Hope it works!! Thanks for checking in!!
