ELAINE STRICH: Well it wouldnt be the first time they tried to cancel my gay credentials since, among other things, Ive generally found operas endless & I am restless in the theater, can think of few musical numbers I could bear to hear without feeling like & am incarcerated in Key West AND I loathe Elton Johns voice, songs & looks. I could go on. BUT: for you who have seen my show, I was stranded in NYC in 1971, camping in the park BUT I was tipped off to go see a theater show Company & it changed my life. Elaine Strich when she sang, Heres To The Ladies Who Lunch took my breath.... the lyrics, the imagery, her being that character. Elaine Strich died today in her late 80s. And that is wroth noting.
