ENDA THE GAME FOR OPPOSITION AS PATATAS BRAVAS DELIVER A SWIFT KICK IN THE POLLOCKS 16/11/14 - POLLOCK 1-4 FC PATATAS BRAVAS Irishman Enda Lyons stole the show last Sunday as FC Patatas Bravas laid waste to mid-table lingerers Pollock on a fine afternoon in Niddrie. Kick off was delayed to allow the thousands of fans to stream into the Jack Kane stadium, and this worked out well for midfeild pair Niall Maclean and Ally Macleod, both of whom trotted on to the pitch late after kicking the arse out of it at a wedding the night before. Enda soon followed the pair, and after being given the all-clear from the medical team was substituted on to warm applause. The smell of raw effluent soon emanated from the pants of the Pollock players, as the big Irishman received the ball and began winding up that left peg for a pop at goal. Indeed his impact was almost immediate, as a corner headed out to the edge of the box was met on the half-volley by Lyons. There was only one destination for this spherical-shaped parcel - and the address was 1 Bottom Corner, Goalsvillle. It soon became apparent that Bravas were in fairly comfortable control of this game. Macleod strolled through the game, as the experienced lynchpin covered box to box. This was complimented by the neat and tidy Andy in midfield, who was one step ahead of the opposition every time, moving the ball quickly and setting off counter attacks. The two Calums on each wing also performed superbly, with Blair injection wave after wave of flair and intrivate dribbling down the left, and Peterson consistently showing the high standard of his all-round game on the right. Bravas were soon 2-up, as a simply world-class flick on by star striker Chris Campbell was latched onto by Irishman Enda, who nailed the ball into the onion bag with the precision of an IRA sniper. Such was the dominance shown by FCPB that one would be forgiven for thinking the visitors were almost home and dry by half time. HT 0-2 Bravas picked up the second half where they left off, with Maclean, Andy and Macleod running the midfield. The defence were impenetrable as usual, with the excellent Craig Young serving up a fresh tin of uncompromising defending. Next on the menu was the duo of Blairs - a fine, delicate helping of fanstastic reading of the game on a base of solid, aerial prowess. For dessert, there was gratuitous portion of Calum Matheson - powerful, stodgy and too hot to handle - and often gives people the shits. Indeed the human wrecking ball from the Emerald Isle soon casually completed his hat-trick after another driving run and finish. Chris Campbell was simply unplayable throughout, and his trickery proved too much for Pollock as he tumbled to the deck in the box after a rough challenge. The referee pointed to the spot after some fine intimidation tactics by Bravas, and up stepped Maclean in an effort to upkeep his 100% record with penalties. Unfortunately for the classy midfielder and all-round ladies man, this was not to be as the goalkeeper produced probably the greatest save in history to tip his top-corner bound effort just wide. Bravas were caught off guard sometime after, and for a short time looked worried as somecunt raced in behind the defence to squeeze in a goal passed the otherwise solid as ever James Nicholson. However the nerves were short-lived. as who else but Enda Lyons battered his way through the opposition defence to rattle in a shot that rebounded off the keeper, bounced back off his own leg and in where the monkey sleeps. Nicholson will happy with the result and the way they played, and can take great confidence in the strength of the squad at his disposal at the moment. It is now the time to mount a serious title challenge, and the Englishman knows the hard work continues next week as Patatas Bravas seek the next 3 points.
