EXCERPT OF MY SPEECH DELIVERED AT THE ANNUAL SYMPOSIUM OF THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF AGRIC STUDENTS, UNNAB ABEOKUTA (24/07/2014) ...Another known fact is that OGUN state is not only the most industrilized state in NIGERIA today, it has the highest number of PUBLIC & PRIVATE TERTIARY INSTITUTION in the country. (22 to date). Ladies and Gentlemen, let me ask you a question in this room...what is the purpose of EDUCATION in NIGERIA? my guess is that majority will answer by saying it is to get a good job and earn a living. If that is the case, then education is not just a way to earn a living, it must also be seen as a means to gain knowledge and become civilized so as to decide how best to live. Education involves the development of physical or cognitive skills, the acquisition of knowledge, and the shaping of values, attitudes, and beliefs. Education free man from the shackles of economic slavery. the life of the uneducated, by contrast, leaves much to be desired. He or She toils day and night in menial jobs to make ends meet. He or She is in economic chains for the simple reason of educational deficiency... OGUN STATE ON MY MIND!
