Earth 42,687 BCE Mondaleek Vrandal sighed as he looked - TopicsExpress

Earth 42,687 BCE Mondaleek Vrandal sighed as he looked over the latest calculations. Monda was the 146th generation of the Vrandal clan. The Vrandal clan had been star jumpers for 2178 home cycles. Monda like his father before him was assigned to the outermost planet as a star observer. He had been watching the approach of the star system Sol for the past 220 home cycles when it was first detected. Although it was well known that star systems moved through space on currents, calculations for their exact speed was impossible determine since their speed was dependent upon the width of the current at any location in space and this was an unknown. While it was not possible to know exactly when the two systems would collide, computer calculations had shown the collision would begin sometime within the next 175 home cycles. When the inevitable collision was first discovered, the heliospheres of the two systems had already began a series of bumping. The bumping is in fact what had led to the discovery of the coming collision as each bump had caused an increase in the flow of energy throughout the Kronos solar system. It was determined that the much larger and energetic Sol star was discharging some of its energy to Kronos. This increase in energy had caused all the inhabited planets of the Kronos system to first experience an increase in their gravitational fields and increasingly severe weather patterns. The increase in the gravitational field of the outer planet had already caused the extinction of most of the larger land and sea animals on the outer planet, which ironically had in turn caused an upswing in the populations of the primitive Adamu. It was these primitive people that had first attracted the attention of the Watchers, a chance to observe the evolutionary process of an intelligent species, and perhaps find the answers of their own origins on their home planet. But...thats not part of the story.
