Eating more fruits and vegetables could dramatically reduce your risk of stroke, according to new research from the American Heart Association. The meta-analysis of 20 studies found that eating 200 grams of fruit a day lowered stroke risk by 32%, and 200 grams of vegetables lowered stroke risk by 11%. Strokes, which result from blood clots or burst blood vessels in the brain, are the fourth leading cause of death in the United States. The study’s authors estimate that increasing fruit and vegetable consumption could reduce the incidence of strokes worldwide by almost 20% ! O:)
