Elder Oaks: Love is the essence of the gospel and Christ is the exemplar of this love. Why is it so difficult to have Christlike love? Contention is of the devil. Peace comes from the Savior. Follow after peace and speak the truth in love. Even if we try to be meek, we must not dilute our values, truths and standards. There is no middle ground on the Lords turf. Boldly teach the commandments plainly and simply in our homes, chapels and temples. Followers of Christ should be examples of civility. Be wise in explaining our beliefs. Be gracious and civil when our opinions are unfavorable to others and have good will even in persecution. Loving one another includes love and respect across all racial, social and economical lines. We can show loving kindness, firmness and patience when we differ in values and beliefs. #ldsconf #oaks
