Emma Osborne, HSE Coordinator at Nuclear Engineering Services in Wolverhampton, enrolled on the college’s NVQ Level 5 Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety after it was recommended to her by colleagues. She said: “As my background, wasnt in the manufacturing industry I was looking to gain more knowledge and experience relevant to that sector, and I felt the qualification would help me gain those skills. “There were several other people at my company who recommended the course to me. They had all passed and were doing really well at the company or had moved on to other things. “The qualification has definitely given me the extra skills and experience I needed, as well as showing to my manager that I am committed to further learning. “I’m already putting into practice what I have learnt and am looking at the company’s health and safety policy in a much more structured way. “The college is very supportive and I get a very swift response from my tutor to any enquiries I might have. In fact, other colleagues who have studied the same qualification elsewhere have not had as much tutor involvement to help them understand the requirements of the course. “I don’t regret coming to the college and I’m so glad I didnt go anywhere else.” To see how a qualification in Health & Safety can enrich your career visit wolvcoll.ac.uk/leanacademy/lean_services.php#hsp
