End protected taxes for school districts or every school district in Indiana will be negatively impacted. It seems like not a week goes by when another 1 or 2 school districts discover how theyll be unable to afford paying for school bus transportation due to an onerous law called protected taxes. In Elwood, they lost 87% of funding; Muncie lost 88%; and Edinburgh lost 87% of the revenue needed to pay for bus transportation due to this restrictive law. As it stands, over 20 school districts around Indiana will be forced to raise extra taxes or transfer monies from the general fund causing teachers and administrators to lose jobs.
