But on the 8th day of our demonstration, it was announced in the headlines that President Ferdinand Marcos gave a promotion of a rank higher to every official and/or executioner who successfully performed the HEINOUS COLD-BLOOD MASSACRE of the 200 Bangsamoro Muslim youth in Corregidor island even if the case was in the middle of the so-called court marshal proceedings… Brothers, now witness how they (Philippine Colonial Government) mock us. They continue this cruelty not minding the world observing their actions. From that moment we’ve decided to resign from our work and form the Moro National Liberation Front. I resigned as professor in the University of the Philippines. During those times I was given a chance to study in America for a doctorate degree but I refused the offer for we all know that it is a shame and a huge sin to fail fulfilling our responsibility to protect and defend the rights of our oppressed people (according to Islamic perspective).
