Enugu CJ swears in 20 new magistrates Ifeanyi Mamah, congratulations, my brother. Make us proud!!! Enugu State Chief Judge, Justice Innocent Umezulike, yesterday, swore in 20 new magistrates, with a charge to be fair, fearless and forthright in the dispensation of justice. Addressing the new magistrates and their well-wishers at the ceremony at Enugu High Court complex, Justice Umezulike said the office of a magistrate was as important and strategic as that of any judicial officer in the three tiers of the nation’s judicial system. He reminded them that hard work and cleanliness were key elements of their practice, stressing there was no geographical or secret society cleavages in the judiciary of Enugu State. He said: “The Magistrate Court is the window through which the public assesses or measures the efficacy or effectiveness of the nation’s judicial system. The cases you handle are various and varied. And they help to shape the opinion of the public about justice delivery and dispensation in Enugu State.” In an interview, Mr. Ifeanyi Mamah, who was appointed Chief Magistrate II, thanked the State Judicial Service Commission and the State Chief Judge for the opportunity given them to contribute their quota towards the effective administration of justice in the state. He promised to discharge his duty diligently by dispensing justice at the lower level of the judiciary without fear or favour. Tony Dike of vanguardngr.
