European tour update! Below is another narrative from Anne Tomlinson. I so wish you could have heard the children today! They incorporated the splendid ideas shared by Dr. Cleobury of Kings College Choir, Cambridge and they sounded simply glorious. Singing in St. Pauls Cathedral was an honor beyond words. The finest musicians have sung in this space for over 600 years and LACC is humbled and awed to have added our sound to this magnificent legacy. LACC was selected as one of only 24 choirs invited throughout any given year to perform and we all feel deeply privileged to have sung in this magnificent space. The cathedral is huge yet with its acoustical properties, the sound was full and rich. Jamal Jaffer, one of our touring choristers, mentioned that at the close of each piece, he could hear his voice carry throughout the cathedral for several seconds. We welcomed many LACC alums and were honored by their presence. And many paid tribute to our beloved Richard Sherman, singing Feed the Birds on the front steps. Then, quite literally, we were whisked to the U.S. Embassys staff July 4th party at the home of Ambassador Mathew Barzun. The children delighted in sharing our American repertoire, including folk songs, jazz works, gospel, and of course, patriotic selections. We simply cant wait to perform at St. Thomas, Leipzig, and in Berlin and Potsdam. Why not fly over to catch a performance?
