Even though I dont have a personal facebook page, I feel it is important that I recognize The Ohio State football program for making it to the 2015 college football championship game. Seeing that this is my music page it would only make sense to incorporate the rich history of the music industry and Ohio State Alumni. Many great recording artists once attended The Ohio State University. A few being Dwight Yoakam, Gary LeVox, O.A.R. and Marti Dodson from Saving Jane (I hope to make the list one day). Not only does Ohio State have talented Alumni but they also have the greatest marching band in the land. The Ohio State University marching band is known for its intricate arrangements and making the song Hang On Sloopy relevant to sports arenas all across America. Hang On Sloopy gained an association with The Ohio State University after its marching band began playing it at football games; it first played it October 9, 1965 after a band member, John Tatgenhorst, begged the director to try playing it. After finally convincing the director, Tatgenhorst arranged the song and the band played. After the crowd reaction, the band began to play it at every game and now it is a Saturday tradition to play the song before the start of the fourth quarter of every Buckeye game.
