Ever since Ive been making the encased murrini beads on such a regular basis, Ive had this thought running around in my head If I can encase raised murrini, why cant I try encasing raised flowers?. So yesterday, I decided to test the theory. I made a bead with twisted flowers, leaves, and a few of the tiniest rose murrini youve ever seen (I could barely pick those suckers up with the tweezers!) and IT WORKED! Theres a certain 3D-aspect to it and the twisted flowers are crisper and clearer than if Id melted them down and THEN encased them. Of course, the one thing I have to factor in is that although the bead ends up as an (approx) 17-18 mm ROUND bead, all the decorating is done on a cylindrical shaped base of approx. 12 mm wide and around 10 mm high - not a heck of a lot of surface to put dots for flowers, etc. Still, Im happy to say my first attempt worked! I can see lots of different ideas springing from this one idea (Im sure Im not the first person to think of it) - but its exciting for me! Will share a photo or two later when I have a moment to myself!
