Ever wondered what it would be like to have a squirrel as a pet? She does the run around your back, up and down your legs, arm to arm, over your shoulder down your back and back up the other side and off and on, as fast as the human eye can focus and over and over especially if she thinks that its time to go back in her cage. ;) Carol wont let her near for fear of the tiny acu-puncture puncture wounds and our 4 Aussie dogs have been the target of a back landing and jump off faster than they knew what hit them a few times but everyone gets along. So far, other than numerous nail puncture holes up and down your arms, legs across your back and shoulders (remember were in Florida so shorts and thin shirts are the daily wear) and the occasional laceration on your hand or cheek caused by a errant misplaced toe nail upon the landing from a flying leap she has been a joy. Yes she has bitten a few times, usually when captured and restrained like when putting into her cage (you have to be fast as she wont sit still), but she always releases before applying any real pressure. Usually the damage is done when you move after she has already leaped 3-6 feet to your tiny shoulder, so her target has moved, and whatever happens to be in the catching distance of those crampons (Im a climber), watch out because they are going to stick to anything.;) Her toenails are like mini needles. She loves her fruits and veggies and the food we buy from Squirrel Nutrician as feeding squirrels only nuts and seeds that most feed squirrels in the back yard are the number one reason 75% of squirrels starve to death every year. Did you know that I didnt. squirrelnutrician When it comes to nuts think of scrat youtube/watch?v=RbsGWNXZ51I We still plan on releasing her but we have grow to love her as a pet.... except for those crampons. If it wasnt for the toenails...... youtube/watch?v=RbsGWNXZ51I
