Every politician wants to have a museum for himself or his family - TopicsExpress

Every politician wants to have a museum for himself or his family in Delhi at public expense. Almost one third of Delhi is occupied by worthless museums. Now Ajit Singh and his supporters are pitting for a site to commemorate the defector memory of Choudhary Charan Singh and have hijacked water supply of Delhi. For political reasons BS Hooda and Congress will come out in support. Frankly speaking we should be against all types of museums dedicated to individual’s right from Gandhi, Nehru, Jagjivan Ram, Kanshi Ram and such other types. Government should not name any road, locality, institution in the name of any public man who died less than 500 years ago. The contributions of an individual can be evaluated only after a period of five centuries after his death. From the existing museums, items of national importance in History should be moved and preserved in National museum at Delhi or in the relevant states. The personal items of any one like spectacles, under clothing, pens or pencils need not be preserved at the expense of the state. Admirers or followers of such politicians may set up the museums of their leaders from their own sources and should buy land in the open market. This wanton museum culture must be dismantled otherwise all big cities will turn into mortuaries one day.
