Everyday, the minority groups of Montenegro are discriminated against. The indigenous Albanians and other minorities are constantly treated as second class citizens, belittled and denied rights. Albanians are a proud people whom have inhabited this land centuries before the arrival of the Montenegrins. Yet, they are even being denied their culture by the new guy. Now they cannot bear their flag, portraying the eagle. The eagle is more than a flag it is a symbol of identity. Albanians are called Shqiptars in their native tongue which translates to eagle people. For centuries, Albanians have always celebrated weddings and holidays with this cultural symbol. Every Albanian has this symbol in their home. This symbol is so much more than a symbol. It is the bond of a people, the bond of a beautiful culture filled with respect, hospitality, honor and brotherhood.
