Everyone has pop culture tropes that get on their nerves. Mine is one used most typically in commercials. Basically, it starts off with a classical music piece that symbolizes conservatism, stuffiness, and is supposed to be understood as a boring musical signifier for the competition. And then a new piece, usually a rockin good tune, comes along and blows it away, typically to symbolize the product being advertised. Although a rockin good tune isnt used in this new commercial, its the same scheme, and its been used in other car commercials as well. At any rate, heres a letter from a cellist to Lexus which, while a bit overwrought, critiques the perpetuation of such prejudice against classical music: cmuse.org/lexus-ridicules-classical-music-in-their-new-commercial/
