Exercise of the day: Atomic Push Up The Atomic Push up utilises a TRX or any form of suspension trainer equipment; such as a Rip 60. Placing the feet in the stirrups, the user begins the exercise by starting in a press up position. Bracing the core, the user initiates the exercise by lowering the chest down to the ground though bending the elbows and essentially performing a push up (press up). After fully extending the arms and returning to the start position, rapidly bend the knees and draw the feet into the mid line of the body, raising the hips slightly. After drawing the knees in, extend the legs back out and repeat for 10-15 reps. Why do it? This exercise is a exceptional way to develop your core strength, as well as upper body core strength. Compared to a traditional push up, this requires greater wrist and shoulder stability, whilst your core muscles work overtime to stabilise and hold you in position.
