Explain the normal DLCO in this patient with restrictive lung disorder? Vignette: A morbidly obese (380 lb) individual presents to the emergency department in respiratory distress. ABGs show a PCO2 of 50 mm Hg, a PO2 of 55 mm Hg, and a pH of 7.22. CXR films are unremarkable, no evidence of emphysema, tumor, fibrosis, pulmonary infarction, or other disease.
