Extortions: Govt suspends traffic chief BENIN CITY- Edo State Ministry of Transport has Suspended Mr. Gilbert Enahoro, Head Traffic Operations, Ekehuan detention centre, for alleged acts inconsistent with his office mandate. This is contained in a statement made by Barr. Isimeme Iriogbe, Hon commissioner for transport when he paid an unscheduled visit to the Ekehuan detention camp following reports of extortion by members of the motoring public. He directed the former Head Traffic Operations to hand-over all government property/documents in his possession to the permanent secretary, while all vehicles at the detention camp have been moved to the ministry of works, Sapele Road, detention centre. The Hon. Commissioner advised members of the public to visit the vehicle detention centre at Ministry of works to collect their vehicle with proof of ownership. Meanwhile, a new traffic Detention point has been opened at Upper Sakpoba Road by the Edo state Ministry of Transport. This is to take care of Traffic Management on the Upper Sakpoba/Gorretti axis of the State Capital. Declaring the place open, the Commissioner, Barr. Isimeme lriogbe reiterated Government’s resolve to ensure free flow of traffic in the State. He advised motorists to see officials of the Edo State Traffic Management Agency as friends working in their best interest, just as he warned the officers against extortion In his response, the head of the operations unit, Mr. JohnbulI Edenezogie pledged to carry out their duty diligently and thanked the State Government for the appointment.
