Extremely excited to announce that Ive officially signed on to join the Clinspirity team. Ill be authoring a series called The Global Clinic -- looking at the intersection between medicine and current affairs. To be able to write professionally is honestly a dream come true but to be able to write about something Ive always been passionate about feels both empowering and incredibly exciting. In truth, my success with this project will be based on your support -- your comments, your Likes, and your Shares. And I hope my content will live up to that standard. My first piece is one that I hope will reminds us of how important it is to be talking about these issues and taking the time to educate ourselves and those around us: In a world captivated by live-streams and on-the-ground tweets coming from Syria, Iraq, Sudan, and other war-torn regions from across the globe, we must realize that the suffering of those subjected to violence lasts much longer than any pang of light or thump of sound, longer than any newspaper headline or television special, longer than any emergency operation or medical procedure. These sufferings, they last for generations — affecting families and communities for decades to come. And they demand our attention — as healthcare providers, as global onlookers, and, most definitely, as people of conscience.
