FAITH IS PORTABLE I engaged a seemingly brilliant Lady in a conversation last night, where upon the conversation went religious as she led it. Then I asked : Where do you worship? Her reply By the grace of God, I worship in Faith Tabernacle (A.K.A Winners Church) I retorted How exactly did God and grace come into this simple quest? Her reply Everything we do is hinged on God and grace. As I recoiled to my shell, I mused over her words and here are my thoughts as it were last night. Why do Christians exhibit traits of helplessness and no confidence assurance in life and goodness without the promise or involvement of God? We Christians are more likely to announce our acquiescence in whatever fate, God or nature where the future is concerned and it bores my personality. This attitude of resignation is the dominant mindset in Christianity that I seek to underwrite cos I perceive that we put up this façade just to look acceptable but it is shrouded in hypocrisy and laziness and some Christians would say If God permits, I shall do so and so. But I think this old and static mentality should be changed. . . . We Christians believe that only God knows the future, but we are also aware or we choose not to be aware that men for several years have excelled without God. Hence, even God himself acknowledged the effort, willpower and steel nerve of the men building the Tower of Babel in the Old Testament. Does that not suffice that whatever the mind of a man can conceive and believe, with or without God, he can achieve? Does this mean that i decry the place of God? God forbid. But I seek to apprehend the Christians out of the realm of childish thoughts of inexplicable, a miracle and some other inscrutable tinkering in the efficacy of as foreordained. Finally, I have elected to charge my Christian comperes to be progressively construal and stop appropriating the Concept of God and grace in a fatalistic sense. . . . In Christianity, let thinking begin.
