FAMILY MEMBERS NARROWLY ESCAPE DEATH IN AN ACCIDENT By #BCNcorrespondent Four people of the same family cheated death on Saturday evening after the vehicle they were traveling in veered off the road and rolled three times along Kabarnet-Marigat road in one of the sharp corners near Patkawanin, Ngolbelon area. The 9 passengers aboard the ten seater tour PSV van were from Kabartonjo and were heading to Solai after attending a marriage Show-Up ceremony when the accident occurred at about 7:30pm. A father and his son who were the main people in the ceremony were among the seriously injured. The two sustained head injuries and on other parts of their bodies. The injured, with the help of the ambulance, were rushed to Kabarnet District Hospital where they are receiving treatment. Some including two boys who were to be dropped at Patkwanin center were treated and released on Sunday Morning while the four are in stable condition. According to the driver, the vehicles brakes failed as he negotiated the corner and his efforts to engage another gear to help slow down turned futile. As I approached the sharp corner, I realized the brakes had failed and I tried to engage gear two but things were out of control and that is when I missed the road and we rolled several times, said the driver. Eye witnesses, among them being the area chief, told Baringo County News that accidents have always occurred at the spot and needs to be marked by authorities as a black spot citing the most recent one that involved a Baringo County Assembly vehicle and that of Standard Group. Police visited the scene on Sunday morning to inspect. The wreck is yet to be removed.
