FATA Parliamentary Associates Program 2014 Call for Applications --- Candidates are invited to apply to be part of the FATA Parliamentary Associates Program 2014-2015, assisting the work of Members of National Assembly (MNAs) and Senators from the Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA). The program is a unique opportunity for young graduates from the tribal areas to work and learn first-hand about the work of parliamentarians and the Pakistan legislative process. Associates will undergo extensive training to prepare them for their daily work, and learn more about the governance structure of FATA, including the ongoing reforms dialogue. The FATA Parliamentary Associates Program is a paid, full-time professional development program, based in Islamabad. The program will run from September 2014 through March 2015. Associates will receive a monthly remuneration fee throughout their participation in the program. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Conducting legislative research and writing; * Tracking pending legislation and regulations; * Monitoring of media and reporting; * Attending parliament hearings and other meetings; * Assisting parliamentarians in working with citizens; * Preparing speeches, briefing notes and other materials; * Assisting parliamentarians with media outreach; and, * Performing other support duties as required. APPLICATION QUALIFICATIONS * FATA domicile required; * Master degree in social or political science, law, economics, international relations, communications or related field required; * Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of the Pakistani political system; * Demonstrated interest and knowledge in FATA and the reform process; * Fluency in oral Pashto and oral and written Urdu required; * Fluency in oral and written English strongly preferred; * Research capabilities, good writing skills and computer literacy; * Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines; and, * Strong willingness to learn and commitment to the entire program duration.
