FB Journal entry #2555: I was talking to Kachina Bige about the challenges of being an artist. Money, community, marketing, ethics, scheduling, invoicing, emotions, stressers, deadlines, proposals, professional development, education, communication, unruly customer expectations, my own expectations, rest, burnout, spirituality, culture, and, oh yeah- inspiration! Sound familiar? Does it sound like your job/career too? They all seem like valid and quantifiable factors just like your job right? They are. So tonight I am throwing yet another prayer out to the cosmos- that I have the self respect and self care and good healthy outlook for the next while to do my work with all those things in mind and in my heart- and trust that everything I work for- together with her and those who support my work and lifelong ambition, to be successful and that the fruits of my labour be recognized as good work, and worthy of our efforts. its worth the effort.
