FINAL UPDATE ON STRAY CAT - Fluff She DID NOT suffer, but her condition was certainly a matter of concern. ?What had caused her to be found severely dehydrated and hypothermic? Without an owner we did not have any past medical history or information to help us. She was suffering on arrival and would have suffered without veterinary treatment. Praise to the lady who brought her in. She received appropriate pain relief throughout her stay. She relieved antibiotic therapy throughout her stay. She received intravenous fluids and responded well. We tested her kidney function which was found to be normal. She had maggots in a wound under her armpit. The maggots were removed by hand and treatment given to kill any further maggots. The wound and maggot infestation would have needed further treatment. This was to be carried out today, but the owner was found. She did not have any teeth extracted. A very rotten loose tooth was lifted from her mouth during a conscious examination. There were further rotten teeth that would have required extraction. All of the cats medical needs were met and and an ongoing treatment plan was in place if no owner was found. The owner was given various treatment options including referral to her own vet for ongoing treatment. The owner made an informed decision based on ALL of the facts, this included her knowledge of her cats past medical history and what she felt was the best decision for HER cat. The cost of treatment is a matter for the practice. The bill was priced very sympathetically to cover basic costs in light of the circumstances. Remember, we did not make the cat unwell but we were there in her time of need. Cats Protection Belfast Lost and Found cats Pets Lost and Found Co.
