FREE CONSCIOUS INSEPENDENT AND OBJECTIVE THINKERS OF LIBERIA CALDWELL JUNCTION, MONROVIA LIBERIA 0776 589 543 September 25, 2013 PRESS STATEMENT FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE The Free Conscious Independent and Objective Thinkers of Liberia have described as remarkable the speech delivered by President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf to the General Assembly of the United Nations. President Sirleaf presented to the world body what is considered the actual happenings in Liberia and the African Continent at large. The President who was among the first batch of Leaders to address the UN General Assembly told the gathering of world leaders that due to the commitment and resilience of the Liberian people the government have instituted a host of reforms intended to improve governance and enhance accountability, and create an enabling environment for the exercise of freedom of speech and of the press. While we respect the views of our fellow compatriots in checkmating the activities of the government, it is also important to note that would be critics must bear in mind that their criticisms are not new as President Sirleaf has from time to time informed Liberians at home and abroad including the International Community that all is not well in Liberia but the policies and actions pursued in the past have enable the government to stabilize our overall national condition. The President further indicated that the government has done much in improving governance and strengthening our institutions of integrity but much more will to be done in consolidating the culture of integrity and accountability in a society that is still beset by values occasioned by years of conflict and that the government will in the next few years take hard decisions in addressing longstanding structural systems. The Free Conscious Independent and Objective Thinkers of Liberia will now use this medium to call on those of our compatriots who have not grasp the fact that the transition from stabilization to transformation is a long and hard road should by now begin to accept the reality and put on a national garment that will be characterized by nationalism and patriotism. We urge them to refrain from vices that have the proclivity of retarding our forward march as a nation state. We also want our brothers spearheading the Ellen Step Down Campaign to immediately abandon said campaign because it has no place in a society that is gravitating towards institutionalizing democracy through participatory elections and not through hijacking and/or short circuiting the democratic process.
