FROM KARAOKE BAR - TO AMERICAN IDOL - TO RECORD DEAL - COUNTRY MUSIC ARTIST ERICK MARTIN PERFORMS THIS WEEKEND IN MEMPHIS AND NASHVILLE NEWLY SIGNED REFORMATORY RECORDS ARTIST ERICK MARTIN CONFIRMS SHOW DATES IN MEMPHIS AND NASHVILLE THIS WEEKEND WHERE HE WILL BE FILMING HIS MUSIC VIDEO Erick Martin, a Las Vegas native who has been making waves since 2004, has a long history of making himself visible in front of large groups of people. His presence was requested multiple times that year to perform the national anthem for the 51s professional baseball team at Cashman Field, as well as UNLV sporting events at Sam Boyd Stadium and the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas. Just prior to that season, he was featured on Fox Channel 5 in Las Vegas on June 2, 2004 as one of the top 25 contestants on the “Gimme the Mic” TV show after being filtered past thousands of national contestants. He also tried out for American Idol that year at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, surpassing more than 12,000 other potential Idols. He has maintained regional visibility over the last decade playing most of the local live music venues—such as the Cheyenne Saloon, the Country Saloon on Fremont and the Las Vegas House of Blues—and continues to be sought after to perform the opening ceremonies at local sporting events. Blending country and rock, Martin is an accomplished songwriter who still feels the impact of the crowd’s reaction to his voice and lyrics. “It’s fun seeing people recognize the songs, but having people connect with your words and your music just puts it on another level,” said Martin during a July 22 interview with Michael Lyle, a staff writer for the LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL. Martin has been ramping up his exposure this month and just performed this past weekend to a full house with his band at the Gothic Theater in Denver, Colo. “We were impressed with the warm reception we received in Denver; we debuted a new song from the upcoming album that went over far better than we had hoped,” said Martin. He is scheduled to play this coming weekend with back to back dates on August 10 at the New Daisy Theater in Memphis, Tenn. and August 11 at Rocketown in Nashville, Tenn. where he will be filming a music video for his song Heaven. The shows are part of the Evolution Music Tour, which has been organizing events in premier venues in cities across the United States. After this weekend Martin is booking block studio time to record his upcoming debut full-length album on Reformatory Records, which will be mastered by Don Cobb, who is known for his extensive history of mastering albums by Garth Brooks.
