FROM THE NEWSROOM: At the Annual Town Meeting in Canterbury tonight, taxpayers will discuss the proposed budget for the 2014-2015 fiscal year. The proposed general government spending plan stands at $3.3 million, the education budget at $11.4 million, and the capital improvement plan at $297,500. These three budgets imply a zero mill change in the budget and maintain 10% in the Fund Balance, plus an estimated $50,000 as a reserve, according to town officials. The town meeting will be held tonight at 7 pm in the Community Center at Town Hall; a referendum on the budget will be held on Thursday, May 29th from 6 am till 8 pm at the Town Hall.
