FROM THE NEWSROOM: Due to safety hazard concerns, Killinglys Town Council have decided to begin renovations on Owen Bell Park. The Town Council unanimously voted to utilize the Community Outdoor Beautification Trust, which gives them up to $25,000 towards repairing the park in time for summer activities and programs. A jungle gym was torn down and a new playscape will be built that is up to date on new state regulations, which will cost approximately $14,500. Another $5,700 is needed to resurface the tennis and basketball courts, which Town Council Chairman John Hallbergh described as “cracking and lifting,” and temporarily mending the parks walking track will require less than $1,000.
