FROM THE NEWSROOM: The Bousquets Appliance Fathers Day fishing derby at Valley Springs Sportsmans Club in Thompson last weekend raised $3,000 for the First Congregational Church of Pomfrets rebuilding fund. Todays check presentation came on the heels of another just yesterday, when a check for more than $4,700 was contributed to the fund by parishioners of St. Marys Church in Putnam and Most Holy Trinity in Pomfret. Thousands of dollars have been donated to the fund over the last seven months. An account at Putnam Bank continues to accept donations for the rebuild of the historic church that was destroyed in a fire late last year. Two checks in one week shows that, “We are not alone, and we are very much appreciative of that,” said the First Congregational Churchs pastor, Reverend Thomas Crumb, as he received the check.
