FYI from Beverly First cousins, George McKinney and Claude - TopicsExpress

FYI from Beverly First cousins, George McKinney and Claude McKinney Jr. were the sons of Claude Sr. and Christopher (Uncle Bud) McKinney who were brothers and two of the sons of Sam and Mattie McKinney. The McKinney and Brown families migrated from the South to the North during the 1920s. Our grandparents, Sam and Mattie (Brown) McKinney with their children, came from Buena Vista, Georgia and their final destination was Willard, Ohio. They had eight children, Buster, Claude, Christopher, Ella Mae, Rosa Lee, Christina, Lenward, and Arlene. The youngest children, Lenward and Arlene, were born in Willard where Grandpa Sam worked for the railroad and Grandma Mat worked at the hospital. Both of our grandparents are buried in Willard, Ohio. Also, Buena Vista, GA, is 21 miles from Plains, GA, the birthplace and home of former President, Jimmy Carter. I’ve always believe that the solid family values from our grandparents and the solid values and good character demonstrated by Jimmy Carter are similar because our family roots come from the same area and were influenced by the same type of people. My father (Claude Sr.) was a great admirer of President Carter, and my father didn’t give his praise lightly.
