Facebook Friends of Asheboro and Randolph County: In 2015 I will - TopicsExpress

Facebook Friends of Asheboro and Randolph County: In 2015 I will be supervising two historical projects where I would love to have your support. First, I have been asked to put together a book on Asheboro for Arcadia Publishing that will be similar to my pictorial history of Randolph County. Since we have looked at many, many fine historical photographs on these pages, I’d like to know which of them are your favorites, and why. Its tough to winnow them out. I can’t use more than 200 photos, and we have passed around many more than that over the years. I need pictures that tell an interesting story- good photographs that can scan well for publication, but also that will let me tell more of the larger story of the history of Asheboro. If you look in the Randolph County book, you’ll see that there aren’t many posed pictures like so many of the Sunday School and public school class pictures. I like action shots that tell a story. For publication I will need scans of at least 300 dots per inch. Some old shots that came from newspapers and school annuals may not be up to that quality, but for the right picture, we can do some technical work to perhaps get it up to snuff. I don’t want to hijack this group, but how about sharing your favorite photos here in a sort of “greatest hits” line-up? That way you can talk about them, trigger memories, and help me on the final write-up. I’m going to be going through the facebook group archives, too, but for this purpose I’d like to know what are YOUR favorite photos of Asheboro? Oh, and the other project- I’ll talk more about that later, but at some point in 2015, and I intent on opening a real Randolph County historical museum. I’ll need volunteers for that, too. But first, the Asheboro book. What are the top 100 pictures of Asheboro? Thanks for your help, Mac Whatley
