Faith Aside from sifting through our material possessions and mental clingings, the practice of aparigraha requires one more thing from us. Faith. Not faith as if to hope. Faith as if to know. We have to know that there isnt any reason to hoard and cling to material objects, because our needs will always be met. We have to be confident that we will never do without. If we do not accept this as the truth, we will always worry that we will not have enough. To know this, we have to conclude that there is a divine energy that supports us. It goes by many names. I call it God. What name you give it is not important. The knowing and understanding of its presence is. Patanjali called it Ishvara. When we quiet our minds, and look within, we find in the silence, what we have always known. We are part of something greater than ourselves. It becomes undeniable that behind all creation, exists an intelligent force. The more we dwell in the silence, the stronger the realization becomes that this intelligent force that flows through the universe, flows through us. Every cell, every atom, every quark of our body. This universal intelligences guidance is evident. It directs the animals to migrate, the inch worm.to spin its cacoon, the baby sea turtles to find their way to the ocean, a flower to bloom, a baby to takes its first breath and our bodies to perform all the miraculous things they do. Nature listens and just knows. We can just know too. We have to have faith in its instruction. Jesus said to seek first the kingdom of heaven, and all else will be added. Seek first what is inside of us. Understand this first. When we realize the force within us, all fear of lack will disappear. If we listen, we will know, just like other living things. We will know what we have to do to meet our needs. We just have to be still and listen. We just have to be still and know.
