Fan Vent Anonymous says: I went shopping with my mom yesterday at Forever 21, and while I was walking around I felt like the people there, not only other shoppers but the salespeople too, were giving me looks like “You don’t belong here” “You’re not trendy or thin enough to shop here.” Does anyone else feel this way then they shop? I’m pretty shy as it is, but I always feel like I never fit in anywhere because of my weight. Additionally, when I went to try things on and (of course, like always) they didn’t fit, I got frustrated. And (of course, like always) my mother says to me, ”Well maybe when you get tired of the clothes you like not fitting you, you’ll lose some weight, hm?” And for once it just made me SO angry and I said to her, “No. I will not. I WILL NOT bend to the fashion industry’s standard of beauty.” But then I thought to myself, what will I do? Make my own clothes? With stores like Forever 21, the regular sizes get so many more and better options than the plus sizes do. And everything else I’ve found, I can’t afford. What do I do?
