Feast of St. Pio, Ulu Tiram. I could not believe my eyes when one - TopicsExpress

Feast of St. Pio, Ulu Tiram. I could not believe my eyes when one of the Offertory gift bearers was my retired colleague from KL whom Id lost contact for a long time. I was astounded, not only because of seeing him in a church but due to the fact that he is a staunch practising Buddhist. You can ask him about the tenets of Buddhism and hes good in palm reading too. After the Mass, I approached him and he was equally surprised as he could not recognise my white hair. It was 30 mins of compact conversation. How he discovered Christianity? While lighting up the 7 oil lamps for Buddhist prayers, 2 of the oil lamps went off. He did not take it seriously until that lamp incident repeated a few times. Upon taking a closer look at the blown-off lamps, he noticed the image of a cross in the oil. Later he went to Kathmandu for prayer chants. After returning, the oil lamps incident repeated with the cross image appearing every time. Now comes the best part - he claimed Angel Gabriel spoke to him (another long story). He then started to do research on the main branches of Christianity and he chose the Catholic Church. Why the Catholic Church? Because earlier he had a vision of the Blessed Virgin Mary! (another long story)... and convinced that God is Love. Later he went for the Holy Pilgrimage around Europe and there he had further visions of Mother Mary and encounters of the spiritual type. He felt the Holy Spirit was trying to communicate with him. He recalled the pleasure of singing Gloria in Latin. To cut the story short, he even had his prayers answered by St Anthony (an incident related to his wife). He said nowadays he feels very comfortable going to church and always looking for the grotto where Mother Mary speaks to him. He declined to be baptized as his Buddhism roots is deeply entrenched. God works in mysterious ways. (He is a retired accountant/ IT manager) ... the conversation cut short as his KL bus was ready to go. Hell be back next year.
