Federal grant for a more energy efficient City of Vincent. Community facilities in the City of Vincent will become more energy efficient thanks to a partnership with the Rudd Labor Government. The project will deliver smart, cost-effective upgrades across five community facilities, delivering over $400,000 in energy savings each year through more efficient lighting, heating and cooling. “Federal Labor has delivered some excellent community projects alongside local government, such as libraries and sports centres,” Minister for Regional Australia, Catherine King, said. “It’s fitting that the Federal Government can again partner with local government to help upgrade these community facilities to reduce energy use, delivering both environmental and financial benefits,” Minister King said. Mayor of the City of Vincent and Labor Party Candidate for Perth, Alannah MacTiernan, said it was a great example of the innovative projects being funded by the Rudd Labor Government’s Clean Energy Future package. “Action is needed to bring down energy costs, and we have a community responsibility to reduce our carbon footprint,” Ms MacTiernan said. “These grants are funding clever, cost-effective improvements that are saving local institutions money, and are a smart investment in our community’s future. “The measures they will support will save the community money, as well as improve the comfort and amenity of the facilities we all enjoy.” A list of grant recipients and further details about the programs is available at ee.ret.gov.au.
