Fellow Star Wars (Original Trilogy) Fans, I came across this last - TopicsExpress

Fellow Star Wars (Original Trilogy) Fans, I came across this last week. This was just posted last month. Star Wars: Fall of the Galactic Empire youtu.be/nXL1agXVeuo (I likely would have renamed this recut, “Star Wars: The Rise and Fall of Anakin Skywalker.” The title this editor chooses makes the story focus too impersonal in my opinion.) This guy, inspired by the RedLetterMedia rant about the great shortcomings of the prequels, went back and recut the prequels down from 3 movies into one 3 and half hour movie. So he essentially removed a little over 2 hours of film from the 3. This is honestly very impressive. It makes the prequels pretty watchable. He does provide a brief break between where the original prequels ended and began. Hope you enjoy this maybe once finals are done 😊 This is the comments I made to the editor after watching it: “Hi TJ. I really like what you did with this edit. I think the pacing was very good and you cut out all the cringe-worthy dialogue along with the annoying Anakin complaining in the second movie. I also liked some of your more inspired ideas such as completely removing C-3PO from the story (since it just created the a lot of stupid scenes and the story problem at the end about needing to wipe his memory). The only couple of things I would suggest is concerning the transition between each of the original episode breaks. For the first break, the text could be better formatted, with a better presentation. Maybe first have a text card appear stating Episode II: 10 Years Later and then provide the info you did overlayed with a few storyboard images from Ep II that can provide some anticipation for the next segment. Then, with the transition to Episode III, I would suggest a title card explaining that it is 3 Years Later. The only little change at the end of the movie I would make is cut out the robots line that says Padme is dying even though she is healthy. Another fan editor removed that line and her death still works because you can connect her death to the choke that Anakin inflicted on her in the previous scene. The perfectly healthy line and lost the will to live is just more Lucas clunky dialogue that is not needed. I really liked how you ended it though. Nice way to leave it in suspense. I would have instead of writing To be continued, I would have been humorous by writing, Coming in 1977....Episode IV: A New Hope Hahah! “
