#Ferguson, Missouri is on fire. I wonder if other cities will follow. This is not civil unrest with the intent to destroy a community. This is a reaction, in anger and confusion, against those who claim to protect and serve and those who claim to encourage and support systematic justice in our communities. But as evidenced in mainstream media coverage, Americas Black community is not being protected and not being served, are not being shown justice, and the media is acting like we all asked for it. WE didnt. As Jeffrey Mittman, executive director of the American Civil Liberties Unions Missouri chapter put it in a statement of condolence to [Michael] Browns family, Unarmed African-American men are shot and killed by police at an alarming rate. This pattern must stop. Matthew Lee would get upset with me for not mentioning that white cops are almost constantly shooting [and killing] unarmed people of a variety of skin tones... but this White cop shooting unarmed Black person to DEATH has happened this year in my state too [RIP Jonathan Ferrell, a car crash victim shot 10 times for approaching a police vehicle for assistance]; its happening everywhere and it is SO upsetting. If I seem racist for posting this, or maybe I just dont get this admittedly complex situation fraught with emotions... I am sorry for offending any person..
