Fermenting feed: So I may be a bit slow when it comes to trying new things, but have extra feed left in the form of crumbles, so decided to make a tiny amount of fermented feed, to see what the kids think of it. Since I had only intended to make a small amount, I went with a 1 gallon jar (not using the lid, dont worry, going to cover it with a damp bar mop). so I can actually SEE it. I do understand that it IS going to expand, but was thinking maybe double in volume .. I started it with warm water (as I had read to do), and what was only 1 dry in the jar, has already expanded to just over 4 in 30 minutes .. I almost grabbed a small bucket, with the intents of putting a couple days worth of feed in it .. SOOOOO glad I didnt do that (it would already be over flowing lol). Obviously it needs to sit for a few days to ferment, but just seeing the expansion amount makes me think of the amount of feed that wouldnt go to waste if we simply soaked it before feeding and the increased usability, just with soaking ... Adding a picture .. below the water line, it is a soupy oatmeal consistency (already).
